RULES & REGULATIONS

Thank you for entering the new expanded Block Island Inshore Fishing Tournament (BIIFT).  Now with nine species in an expanded geographic area covering waters around the mainland from the Jamestown and Newport Bridges south to about fifteen miles off the coast of Block Island in waters off Rhode Island (see tournament map, now includes southern coastal shore from Westerly, Newport to the Sakonnet River and much of the Cox Ledge area).

Species now include bonito, false albacore, bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna and mahi in addition to fluke, black sea bass, bluefish and striped bass.

We still have the popular youth and adult shore divisions; a boat youth division for black sea bass, fluke, striped bass and bluefish; and a combined adult/youth division for bluefin tuna, yellow fin tuna, bonito, false albacore and mahi.

The BIIFT is open to all who desire to enter. The Tournament director retains the right to limit the number of entrants and reserves the right to cancel the event for any reason.

A saltwater fishing license is required to fish Rhode Island Waters and a Federal Highly Migratory Species license to fish for tuna unless fishing on a licensed charter or party boat in which case anglers are fishing off the Captain’s license.   Participants must follow all Rhode Island State and Federal regulations in effect at the time of the Tournament.

All participants are required to register online on the Tournament website and submit the entry fee prior to the start of the Tournament.  Participants agree that the Block Island Inshore Fishing Tournament has the right to use their image and all photos taken during the Tournament in Tournament publicity and promotional material.

SAFETY FIRST!

Fish at your own risk. Each Angler is responsible for the well-being of themselves and those they fish with. The BIIFT assumes no responsibility for the conduct or safety of any boats or entrants. All participants enter the tournament at their own risk.
